Tires: How important is Tire Service?
If you're like a lot of drivers, it is easy to forget about your tires until you have an inconvenient flat. It may not seem important to have a routine tire service to check the air pressure of your tires as recommended, or take the time to regard the depth of their tread. Have you ever looked at the note on the driver's side door (or maybe the glove compartment) to learn the correct air pressure for your vehicle's rubber? Don't be too hard on yourself if you haven't!
Well-made tires are, well, tireless. No other parts of your vehicle crunch into potholes, displace the water in puddles, roll over pavement endlessly, and still perform as intended? If not treated with respect, even good tires can go bad and require a tire repair or replacement.
Think about a few of the things that happen to your tires in a typical day:
- Puncture (nails left in the driveway?)
- Impact (pot-holes)
- Curbing (parking)
- Overloading (packing it full and heavy)
- Under-inflation (not enough air pressure)
- Age (on the car or truck for years)
- Baldness (they need to be replaced)
To ensure that your tires perform at their peak efficiency, check the air pressure and tread depth at least once a month. Don't be one of the many drivers guilty of neglecting tire service. Give some attention to your vehicle's tires so you don't get left stranded on the side of the road!Need quality tire repair?
